9 Things to Consider When Choosing Flooring Material

When it's time for new flooring, consider more than just aesthetic beauty. These days, just about any look is available in a variety of materials, and each material offers a different blend of strengths and weaknesses. Ask yourself:

  1. Traffic use... what will the traffic level be? High traffic areas will need frequent cleaning and could wear faster. A vinyl or laminate material might be the easiest option to clean and will withstand wear.
  2. Slip resistance... will traffic on this floor require additional traction? Do they use a wheelchair? Are they elderly? Do they have any impairment that requires additional stability?
  3. Climate... will the floor be exposed to rain or snow? Is it a moist environment (an indoor pool, bathroom, sunroom, etc)?
  4. Pets... do you have dogs or cats? Pet claws can scratch hardwood floors, and "indoor potty accidents" can be difficult to treat on carpet.
  5. Cleaning... do you want a surface that is easy to clean?
  6. Allergies... some carpets hold allergens.
  7. Below grade... some flooring material should not be installed in basements or on concrete slabs.
  8. Weight limits... Most of the time, a floor's use is limited to a handful of human beings at any time, but industrial facilities often store hundreds of pounds of material on a single square foot of floor. Will your floor have higher-than-average weight on it?
  9. Budget... we offer a wide range of materials to serve every price point.

We Accept And Financing Is Available

We are very happy with our new bathroom and the high quality service your staff provided. In selecting tiles, you listened well and offered very useful guidance. Your store sample selection was solid. (I looked at a lot of tile stores so I have a decent perspective on this.) Your tile guy and your plumber were very conscientious about working in our home without undue intrusiveness. Final details were buttoned up perfectly. I'll be back at your store for our next project.
